Overview
LC-NCR began providing exciting hands-on educational programming on the Anacostia River in 2001 and brought Discovery Creek Children's Museum into their family in 2007 to offer additional exciting programs to the schools, famlies and communities in the Washington, DC metro area. LC-NCR has utilized the lessons learned and best practices of all Living Classrooms programs to establish highly effective programs for youth and adults in the D.C. metropolitan area. Over the last six years of programming, LC-NCR has served over 17,000 participants in educational and workforce development programs.
LC-NCR and Discovery Creek are both members of the The District of Columbia Environmental Education Consortium (DCEEC) which represents over 30 environmental education organizations operating in the District of Columbia.
DCEEC's Mission: To bolster a network of environmental and conservation educators, increasing their capacity to provide meaningful environmental education for the residents of the District of Columbia.
Vision: To be a model of cooperation increasing environmental literacy for youth and adults of the District of Columbia. DCEEC is an inclusive network of teachers, DC schools, environmental education providers, and supports from businesses, universities, and the political arena.
