Overview
Living Classrooms of the National Capital Region’s job skills training and workforce development programs assist disadvantaged youth and young adults to overcome obstacles including lack of education, lack of skills, poor work history, history of substance abuse or criminal behavior, and childcare and transportation barriers. Our programs help youth address these issues and become successful by developing a network of support and resources, teaching youth marketable job skills such as professionalism, communication, and problem-solving, and providing opportunities for academic remediation and continuing education.

In 2006, LC-NCR and LCF were selected by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation (WKKF) to assist with the development of an alternative workforce credential, the New Options for Youth.

LC-NCR is one of six organizations nationally that WKKF selected to co-create with their team. Once the credential has been developed, organizations will work with them Kellogg to take this effort to scale. WKKF is planning for this to be a 10 year effort.
